About the Author
Victoria Grossack, FCAS
Victoria Grossack is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, having received her fellowship in 1997. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she has worked at Argonaut Insurance Company in California, Zurich Financial Services in Zurich, Switzerland, and Folksamerica Reinsurance in New York. She has been published in The Actuarial Review, Contingencies, and The Journal of Actuarial Practice and in Risk Metrics for Decision Making and ORSA published by the Joint Risk Management Section. When she was studying for her last actuarial exam she ran a study group in which all the participants passed. Victoria is fluent in German and French, and is an accomplished fiction writer, having published five Greek mythology novels and two mystery novels, including one set in the world of Jane Austen.
Covers the syllabus pretty effectively. It has Goal, but it's a scaled back version of it. It does have mock exam however.
Helpful for CAS6 and maybe the best text I've used for the CAS exams overall, so far.
I'm glad I had this manual. It helped me streamline/reduce my studying and for that I'm grateful. Definitely different if you are expecting a study manual similar to those used for the earlier, more mathematical exams, but pretty much on target for CAS6.
A good study guide with mock exam.
I purchased for 6US and liked it; mock exams are helpful; goodfinal prep for the exam.
The author just covers it all; suscinctly, not lots of fluff - but gets it done. This is exactly what I wanted.
This study manual is probably the best way to prepare for CAS6. I can't imagine staying focused on this material unless I was actively reading it. GOAL was a nice for testing myself / mock exam.
I hadn't used Actex since Exam MFE, but purchased this manual after looking around for someing for Exam 6. Overall, maybe the best study manual I've used for the CAS exams.
