Insuring Long-Term Care is a new book that illuminates the risks of long-term care benefits in the US in their many forms. The goal of the text is to improve the understanding of LTC risks among practitioners, with the hope of fostering new generations of LTC risk management and products. The book addresses the topics of experience studies, regulation, public programs, enforce management, mergers & acquisitions, valuation, claims administration, fraud, and more.

About the Authors/Editors 

Robert Eaton, FSA, MAAA

Robert is a Principal with Milliman, living in Tampa, Florida. He specializes in long-term care insurance in its many forms: traditional LTCI, hybrid life and LTC (or chronic illness) policies, annuities with LTC benefits, short-term care, continuing care retirement communities, and more. Robert works in risk management, pricing, valuation, mergers & acquisitions, and inforce population management. Robert has served as the CEO and chairperson of the board of directors of the Intercompany LTC Insurance Conference (2020), on the board of directors of the Society of Actuaries (2019-2022), as the chairperson of the Society of Actuaries’ LTC Section Council (2018), as the editor of the Section Council’s LTC News (2015 – 2017), and as an editor of Milliman’s Disability News. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Florida (2004).

Robert resides with his lovely wife Tiffany and their meddlesome children Penelope and Oliver in Clearwater, FL.

 

Matt Morton, FSA, MAAA

Matt is a consulting actuary with extensive experience in long-term care insurance. Throughout his actuarial consulting career, he has focused on delivery of LTC expertise to clients in the areas of valuation, financial analysis, reinsurance and projections. He is the author of several intercompany LTC experience study papers produced by the Society of Actuaries. He is a frequent speaker and volunteer at industry conferences and events and has served as a member of the Society of Actuaries Long Term Care Section Council. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science from Pennsylvania State University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Matt currently lives in a suburb of Philadelphia with his wife, Leah and their children Jack, Angela, Henry, and Max. His interests include coaching his kids, cycling, time on the beach and cooking with his family.
