Actuarial Management - Thinking Like a P&L Leader
Prepare yourself to be a key contributor in the near- or medium-term with broad-based business skills and P&L knowledge and leadership.
Description:
Actuaries at all levels play critical roles within their organizations. Early career development is focused on building a strong technical and industry foundation. Once this foundation is in place, however, actuaries must begin to develop management, leadership, and advanced business skills in order to continue providing value to their organizations. As their careers progress, actuaries typically gravitate toward one of three paths:
(1) Individual contributor/technical expert
(2) Manager of an actuarial team (e.g., product development, valuation or corporate actuarial)
(3) Leader of a broad-based business team.
All these paths offer vast opportunities for professional growth, but all require a different primary skill set. Those interested in moving into broader roles or upper management must focus on understanding how a business really operates and what it takes to make one successful. P&L understanding and knowledge will help get you there.
Whether you are early in your career and still figuring out your path, or you are further along and know you want to head into upper management or a broader role, this webinar can help. For those earlier in their careers, one important mental shift is moving from purely tactical to strategic thinking, regardless of your current role. For those further along in your career, you must begin to understand what areas P&L leaders need to concentrate on to properly run a business line within an insurance company.
