ACTEX Learning Presents: ACTEX eLearning Webinar: Everyday Ethics for Actuaries

Every actuary knows that modeling professionalism means upholding the code of professional conduct, actuarial standards and relevant guidance. Yet, at the heart of each actuary’s professionalism are the decisions and choices that we make every day.

In this ACTEX Webinar, we’ll examine ethical decision-making and factors that can influence our choices. Along the way, we’ll touch base with relevant moral philosophers and ethical thinkers to see what additional support they can provide.

To bring all of this together we will engage in a practical application that will feature an in-depth discussion of a real-world case study. Finally, we’ll leave you with some actionable suggestions on how to thoughtfully implement what we have learned in your daily professional practice and provide you with some “occupational hygiene” tips to help safeguard you from ethical peril.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a greater awareness of how ethics can support sound decision-making
  • Gain a better perspective on common traps and pitfalls you may encounter on the ethical plane
  • Become more familiar with actuarial resources that support ethical decision-making

Who Should Attend This Webinar?

Actuaries and insurance professionals who are interested in improving their ethical sensibility and appreciate that while practice won’t necessarily make you perfect, it can equip you to better withstand ethical challenges encountered in your daily work.
