About your Professors
Gabriel Necoechea is Director, Content and UX and Africa & Middle East Markets with ACTEX Learning. Gabe earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Kansas State University in 2021. As an individual contributor and project manager, he has contributed to various aspects of front-end and back-end functionality on the Actuarial University platform; the digital transformation of ACTEX’s highly regarded written study manuals; and to the creation of new content, both written and video. Through his video work, he has developed hundreds of instructional videos for associate-level actuarial exam topics through slide- and script-writing, audio recording, and editorial oversight. The result is comprehensive, eLearning coverage of associate-level exams for SOA, CAS, and IFoA. Gabe speaks regularly at universities about actuarial education, with a particular focus on building relationships with students and professors in Africa and Middle East. He is currently pursuing his ASA designation at a somewhat leisurely pace, when he isn't spending time with his wife Nicole, twin cat “sons,” and twin human daughters.
Josh Collins is a consulting actuary with over a decade of professional experience, primarily in the US Health market. Additionally, Josh has extensive international actuarial experience in the development of the actuarial profession. Josh was a program manager for the UNDP-Milliman Global Actuarial Initiative (GAIN) and has worked in countries across the world to enhance global sustainable development through the expansion of actuarial capacity and expertise. He is currently based in Ottawa, Canada, and being a father of 4 young kids has slowed down his travels, but he would love to hear about where you come from and any interesting places you have traveled.
